Total Fight Challenge: 135 lb. title

MoreMMA Classic: 135 lb. title

Upcoming Fight
Garcia is scheduled to fight against Alex Lagunas at the Total Fight Challenge on Friday, July 11 at the Willowbrook Ballroom. Lagunas is the 145 lb. champion who trains out of Team 110 in Melrose Park.

The fight will be a champion vs. champion bout, as Garcia will defend his 135 lb. title against Laguna’s 145 lb. title. They both will be fight at a catchweight of 140 lbs.

Opponent: Alex Lagunas
My training for this fight has been going great. I just fought last month and I know that we were both part of the same, last two cards, so we’ve had about the same amount of time to train. I’ve been training every day and I feel prepared,” said Garcia.

Although he predicts that Lagunas will be a tough opponent, Garcia feels prepared to overcome Laguna’s strategy and earn the victory.

“I think he’s (Lagunas) a tough guy because he likes to go in there and brawl and he’s always moving forward. But I think that as long as I keep calm and keep my composure, I think I’ll be able to control him and come out with the win,” said Garcia.© Chicago Combat Sports

Although his wrestling background has helped ease his transition into mixed martial arts, Garcia says he continues to work on improving his stand-up in hopes of becoming a more well-rounded fighter.

“My coaches and teammates have helped me with my striking and I feel that I have definitely improved. My combinations are better, I stay more calm when I’m being punched and I know that I’ll keep improving,” said Garcia.

“Wherever he (Lagunas) wants to go…I feel confident that I can get the win,” said Garcia.

“I just want to continue training and see where God wants me to go and  wherever my team leads me to…but I am confident that they’ll take me far,” said Garcia.

Final Thoughts
“I first want to thank God for always being with me and leading me through my victories and to where I’m at today. I also want to thank my team for always supporting me and taking me this far and everyone else who has been there for me…thank you,” ended Garcia.
